She could be the Sarah Ann Scott born on the 20 May 1832 in Sunderland to John Scott and Mary Burney. She is recorded as being the sister of John Scott.
In the US 1880 Census for Pennsylvania she is shown as a "widow" and her youngest child is aged 8. Therefore it would seem that her husband, John, died between 1872 and 1880.
